KISWAHILI RESOURCES

There are a total of 364 titles related to Swahili in the University of Toronto libraries spread across the three campuses. The majority of these resources are in the form of books in Swahili literature, grammar, drama, poetry, and prose located mainly at Robarts Library and New College Library (Ivey), on St. George Campus. A few of these resources are found at Scarborough and Mississauga Campuses as well as at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE) in the University of Toronto.

Apart from books, there are audiocassettes (available in the Media Commons at Robarts Library) and music cds (available at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto). In addition to books and audiovisual resources, thousands of journal articles and periodicals related to the Swahili language can be accessed online through Scholars’ Portal.

Undoubtedly, the University of Toronto has the largest collection of resources related to the Swahili in Canada as the result of teaching Swahili for more than 25 years continuously.
